Terms of Service

These terms govern use of the My Next Steps platform: the marketing site, every Organization’s hosted subdomain, and the staff and admin tools used to configure and run an Organization’s assessment. By requesting an Organization, accepting a staff invitation, creating a Member account, or taking an assessment, you agree to these terms.

The service

My Next Steps lets an Organization (typically a church) publish a guided assessment, review the responses its Members give, and offer personalized next-step recommendations. An Organization’s staff and admin users configure the assessment’s questions and recommendations; Members and anonymous visitors take the assessment and see the results.

Accounts

• Organizations are created either by submitting a signup request that a platform admin reviews and approves, or directly by a platform admin.
• Staff and admin accountsare created by invitation from an Organization’s existing owner or staff, or by a platform admin. Each person is responsible for keeping their own credentials confidential and for the activity that happens under their account.
• Member accounts are created by the Member themselves, either with a password or a one-time sign-in link. A Member can also take an assessment anonymously and later choose to save or claim their results.

You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep it current.

Organization responsibilities

An Organization (and the staff/admin users it authorizes) is responsible for:

• The assessment questions, recommendations, and other content it configures on the platform;
• Having the rights or permission needed for any content or material it uploads or links to; and
• Its own staff and admin users’ compliance with these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the platform to:

• Post or configure content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or abusive;
• Attempt to access another Organization’s data, accounts, or assessment content without authorization;
• Interfere with or disrupt the platform’s operation, or attempt to bypass its rate limits or security controls; or
• Reverse engineer or resell the platform itself.

Content ownership

An Organization retains ownership of the assessment content it configures (questions, recommendations, branding, and similar material). A Member’s assessment responses belong to that Member; by taking an assessment, a Member allows the Organization whose assessment they took to view those responses, as described in our Privacy Policy. The My Next Steps software, design, and branding remain the property of My Next Steps.

The assessment and any recommendations it generates are intended to support personal reflection and are not a substitute for professional pastoral counsel, medical care, or mental health treatment. If you are in crisis or need professional support, please reach out to a qualified professional or, in an emergency, your local emergency services.

Service availability

We aim to keep the platform available and reliable but don’t guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform, and we’ll try to give Organizations reasonable notice of a change that materially affects them.

Disclaimer of warranties

The platform is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Next Steps will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Termination

An Organization or Member may stop using the platform at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to an account or Organization that violates these terms. On termination, we handle any remaining data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
