POSITION: Small Group Leader
RESPONSIBLE TO: Coach
MISSION STATEMENT: To turn unchurched people into fully devoted followers
of Christ.
PREREQUISITES:
1. Complete How to be a Small Group Leader training
2. Complete and meet requirements of Leadership Application
3. Have participated in a small group for one trimester
4. Be committed to maintaining unity by understanding and supporting
the philosophy of ministry; and the core values and theology of Seacoast
Church
5. Be recommended by a Small Group Leader and Coach; and approved by
a Seacoast pastor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attend regular leadership training provided by coach or church wide
training
2. Plan for and coordinate your small group meeting. Furnish group status
or attendance reports to your Coach on a timely basis.
3. Pray for everyone in your group and your coach
4. Contact members of your group on a regular basis. This can be done
through email, phone calls, one-on-one get together, or going out with
them as a group. Build a sense of community among your group by assigning
different group members different roles within the group, caring for
those who have special needs as they occur, and meet for social events
on a regular basis.
5. Prepare for small group lessons using the Bible as the textbook for
discipleship. Facilitate group discussion, questions, and challenges
that will enable the group to grow deeper in their walk with Christ.
6. Select an apprentice and develop his or her small group leadership
skills by mentoring him/her through How to be a Small Group Leader on-line
course
7. Make yourself available to your group members for general pastoral
care
8. Be supportive of group members in their “Next Steps”.
